Regeneration in North Staffordshire offers the opportunity to develop solution focused ways of engaging with individuals.

According to the RENEW website:

RENEW North Staffordshire is a partnership of local organisations who are working together to deliver a multi-million pound investment programme called housing market renewal.

The programme - just one of nine in England to receive government funding - is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a stronger, more stable housing market for the region.

Digital engagement and using SF approaches to impliment the changes

Socialreporter | Launch of a digital engagement manifesto
The aim of this particular network is to create a discussion space, and probably an online community, to pull together a set of principles and how-tos that would be helpful across a range of issues from inclusion and adoption of technology, to e-participation and e-democracy.

The digital manifesto aims to focus on empowering the individual by using digital tools. Again I feel this would benefit from using an approach looking at the preferred agendas of the community, fitting the tools to their needs not the other way around, this could be where SF approaches fit in.

We have the 2009 UKASFP conference build up happening now. Already tickets are selling quickly.

We have focused this years conference on building networks, using a world cafe approach to collaborate on a number of projects being shared during the conference.

The conference will feature a first, we have a social reporting team who will live blog, record video and audio. Details will be on the ukasfp.com site before the conference begins.

Focusing on communities

Ok, so we had a break from using this SFA site while we concentrated on the facebook and ukasfp.com site. We have a few people around the FB site interested in solution focused work. I think the plan will be to link this blog with FB and other networks.

There has been a great deal of work going on with the G20 summit approaching and the Government's digital agenda. These events and policy reviews fit well with Solution focused approaches and so I have begun to offer a few SF ideas to see if the fit is recognised elsewhere.

You can follow these conversations here and here.

I will be exploring the changing Government focus on engaging with communities, it seems there are movements towards engaging the community as a resource rather than consumers.
